Upon arrival at Casablanca airport, you will be met by your private driver and begin with a short visit of Casablanca, the economic capital of Morocco. You will visit the impressive Hassan II Mosque, a fascinating example of Moroccan architecture. It is the largest mosque in the kingdom and the fifth largest in the world. Built partly over the Atlantic Ocean, it can accommodate more than 100,000 worshippers, and its minaret is the tallest in the world at 210 meters. After this visit, you will depart Casablanca toward Rabat, the political capital of Morocco. Here you will visit the Kasbah of the Oudaya, overlooking the Bou Regreg River, built during the Almohad dynasty in the 12th century. You will also visit the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, the Hassan II Mausoleum, and the Hassan Tower, the minaret of an unfinished mosque dating back to 1195 AD. Later, you will continue north through scenic landscapes to Chefchaouen, the famous blue city nestled in the Rif Mountains.
After breakfast, you will have free time to explore Chefchaouen, one of Morocco’s most charming towns. Known for its blue-washed streets and white houses, the city offers excellent opportunities for photography and leisurely walks through its medina and local markets, with beautiful views of the Rif Mountains. Later, you will travel south via Ouazzane toward Volubilis, one of the most important Roman archaeological sites in Morocco. Dating back to the 3rd century, this UNESCO World Heritage Site features remarkably preserved mosaics, arches, and ruins. Continue to the imperial city of Meknes, where you will visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, the impressive royal granaries, and stop for photos at Bab Al Mansour, one of the most beautiful gates in Morocco. Meknes reflects strong Moorish architectural influence and is an important agricultural center. In the late afternoon, continue to Fes. Overnight in a riad with breakfast.
After breakfast, enjoy a full-day guided tour of Fes, the oldest imperial city in Morocco and its spiritual and cultural heart for more than 1,000 years. With a local guide, you will explore the ancient Fes el-Bali medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visits include the Royal Palace gates, the Jewish Quarter (Mellah), the Tombs of the Merinids, Bou Inania Medersa, traditional ceramic workshops, and artisan quarters. You will walk through the narrow alleys of the medina, visit Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque and University, Attarine Medersa, Nejjarine Fountain, and see the famous medieval tanneries. Lunch will be in the medina, followed by free time to explore the souks.
Overnight in Fes at the same accommodation.
After breakfast, depart Fes toward the Sahara Desert. You will pass through Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco,” then continue through the cedar forests of Azrou, where you may encounter Barbary macaques in their natural habitat. Cross the Middle Atlas Mountains, pass through the only tunnel in Morocco, and descend into the spectacular Ziz Valley, famous for its palm groves and dramatic cliffs. Continuing southeast, you will reach Merzouga, gateway to the Sahara. Here, you will begin a camel trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, experiencing the nomadic desert lifestyle. You will enjoy sunset over the dunes, followed by dinner, Berber music, and stargazing around the campfire. Overnight in a luxury desert camp.
Early in the morning, you will wake up to witness a magical sunrise over the dunes. After a traditional Berber breakfast, you will return by camel to Merzouga and continue by vehicle toward Rissani, where you will visit the Moulay Ali Cherif Mausoleum. Travel through a series of authentic Berber villages such as Jorf, Mellaab, and Tinjdad, then arrive at the spectacular Todra Gorges, where towering canyon walls rise dramatically on either side. Continue toward the Dades Valley, passing unique rock formations known as the “Monkey Fingers,” and stop at panoramic viewpoints along the famous Dades Gorge road. Dinner and overnight in Dades Valley.
After breakfast, depart through the beautiful Dades Valley toward Kalaat M’Gouna, known as the Valley of Roses, and continue to Skoura Oasis, where numerous ancient kasbahs dot the landscape. Arrive in Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa,” and visit the Taourirt Kasbah.
