7 days expedition that takes you from the vibrant city of Marrakech to the mesmerizing Sahara Desert, offering a perfect blend of cultural immersion and natural beauty.
You will be warmly welcomed and met by one of our team as soon as you arrive at the airport. You will have a half day tour of Marrakech with a local guide around the city ramparts and the secret places. You will visit the Koutoubia Minaret, the Majorelle Gardens, the 16th century Saadian Tombs, the Bahia Palace, and the Dar Si Said Palace museum of jewelry and the souks. Overnight in a riad in the Medina of Marrakech.
The road trip starts by driving towards Kasbah Ait Benhaddou via the highest pass in Africa Tizi N’ Tichka (Altitude 2260 m ) while enjoying the super views of the giant High Atlas Mountains with the panoramic Berber villages. We continue the journey to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Aït Benhaddou. Situated on a hill along the Ouarzazate River, This beautiful example of southern Moroccan architecture has been used as a backdrop for over 20 famous movies including Lawrence of Arabia, Game of thrones, The Mummy, and Gladiator. We pass by Ouarzazat, one major Berber city in southern Morocco known as the Hollywood of Africa and by the rose valley and overnight in a hotel in the Dades Valley.
Following in your hotel we leave the Dades gorges and head to Todra gorges Gorge via Tinghir and the lush valley of Todra where you will have a little hike along the narrow and high cliffs of Todra. Aftwards, we continue to Merzouga via the dramatic stony desert and the palmeries of Erfoud (capital of the fossiles). In the afternoon we arrive to Merzouga desert where you get ready and accompanied by a camel guide to go for an authentic camel trek experience of around 90 minutes where you can catch the sunset in the heart of the Erg Chebbi dunes and spend a memorable night with millions of shiny stars, enjoy a Berber dinner, drum party and sleep in a comfortable luxury tent.
You will wake up early to watch a wonderful sunriseand after breakfast you will ride your camels back to Merzouga village. Afterwards we take our 4×4 to drive around the mystic Erg Chebbi dunes and stop for tea with a nomadic desert family and get to know their way of living. Then continue to visit Khamlia a small village inhabited by black people who imigrated from sub-saharian countries to listen to their traditional Gnawa music, then another visit to Rissani to bustle and bargain in its traditional Souk and donkey parking, visit some of the Kasbah and Ksour in the Area and have lunch with our family and friends. Free afternoon in the desert and overnight in our hotel in Merzouga.
Departure at 9 am from the desert driving towards Agdz through the range of the dramatic Anti Atlas mountains and the fabulous views of the rocky desert passing by Tazarine, a Berber village famous for its Henna groves. After lunch in Nekkob, this green little palmery, we arrive at Agdz , a small town located at the shore of the Draa River (Nile of Morocco) that is considered the longest river in Morocco. Overnight in a hotel in Agdz.
We will start the journey back to Marrakech crossing the Tizi N’Tinifift pass (Altitude 1460m) the highest pass in the Anti Atlas mountains. After we arrive to Ouarzazate in one hour, we will continue by the High Atlas mountains to reach the fertile and rich village of Telouet or the Pacha Glaoui’s home-town where you can discover His beautiful decorated Kasbah, then arrive back to Marrakech and drop off aprox at 5 pm at your riad.
You will have free time to discover Marrakech on your own. Transfer to the airport of Marrakech and end of our services.
